Ponte Vedra roofs run from concrete and clay tile to shingle and metal, and the black streaking on them is algae, heaviest on shaded slopes and on houses beside the marsh. We soft wash every type: a cleaning solution at low pressure, dwell time, then a rinse. Pressure is never used on a roof. It breaks tile, blows out mortar at the ridge and strips shingle granules.

On metal and on tile near the ocean we keep the rinse thorough so no solution is left sitting in the laps and valleys. The plants, pool and screens below get protected before we start.
